I have a vertical line down the screen of my iPhone X. I have no idea why this happened. Can this be fixed? What does this cost? Why would this happen? Is this an apple defect? I’ve been using apple products for years and never had this before- I have phones, iPads, MacBook, and an iMac. This is my first disappointment with apple.

The iPhone X is also worth buying in 2023 and perfect for playing the best classic iPhone games! If you want a better OLED display and camera (especially for portraits), go for the iPhone X. If you want more battery life and better performance, go for the iPhone XR.

Check if it is a temporary glitch, by using these gestures:
Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the “slider” to turn the device off included).
If the issue persists, it could be a hardware (screen? other internal component?) failure but we, just users like you, cannot diagnose that issue remotely, sorry.
I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:–> Apple – Location Selector. After checking it out, they’ll give you all the available options.
